New York Stock Exchange Broadcast Studio Upgrade: Zero Downtime
A complete broadcast transformation, delivered with no missed shows for a team that delivers more than 3,000 live events per year.
At the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the show never stops. With more than 3,000 live broadcast events each year, every meeting, interview, and investor moment is a fully produced experience. Complete with camera operators, audio, and live distribution.
So when the NYSE decided to modernize its aging broadcast infrastructure, one requirement stood above all others: there could be no downtime. No missed shows. No interruptions.
“The biggest challenge going into this was to make sure that our capabilities were always working. Working with CTI, there was never a pause.” Joe Benarroch, Head of Content, Media Partnerships, and Distribution, NYSE
Partnering with CTI, the NYSE successfully rebuilt its entire production environment, including three new control rooms and a fully upgraded backend infrastructure, while continuing to broadcast every single event without pause.
The Challenge
It had been nearly a decade since NYSE’s last major technology upgrade, and the existing environment was no longer keeping pace with demand. Systems were aging, workflows were strained, and the complexity of supporting thousands of events each year was growing.
“We replaced every piece of equipment that dealt with the New York Stock Exchange control room. We’re able to do more. We can rely on the equipment. We have the equipment to do whatever we want.” Ian Wolff, Director of Broadcast & AV Operations, NYSE
The stakes were high. NYSE isn’t just a financial institution. It’s a global media platform where companies come to tell their stories. Every event matters. Failure is not an option.
Compounding the challenge, NYSE needed to replace its entire production backbone without interrupting daily operations. With thousands of events per year, even a brief outage wasn’t an option. `

The Solution
CTI approached the project with a broadcast-first mindset, bringing in specialized expertise to design a system that could be rebuilt live without stopping production.
The strategy included:
- Building a fully functional temporary control room over a single weekend to maintain uninterrupted operations
- Replacing the entire backend broadcast infrastructure while events continued as scheduled
- Expanding from one-and-a-half control rooms to three fully dedicated, state-of-the-art control rooms
- Upgrading production systems while maintaining existing camera investments for continuity and efficiency
- Leveraging a proven SDI architecture to ensure reliability and minimize risk during the transition
By carefully phasing the integration, CTI ensured that each component could be brought online without disrupting active productions. NYSE continued operating at full capacity throughout the transformation!
The Partnership
This project required more than technical execution. It demanded trust, collaboration, and constant alignment.
“The attention to detail that CTI gave us, you’re able to put your head down at night and know that tomorrow’s everything’s gonna work.” Ian Wolff, Director of Broadcast & AV Operations, NYSE
CTI worked closely with NYSE stakeholders throughout the project, helping evaluate key decisions, including the balance between emerging IP-based workflows and the reliability of established broadcast standards. Together, they chose a path that prioritized stability and performance in a mission-critical environment.
Rather than simply delivering what was asked, CTI acted as a true partner: bringing ideas, challenging assumptions, and guiding decisions to ensure the best possible outcome.
The result was a seamless, coordinated effort where both teams worked as one, focused on delivering a complex transformation without disrupting a single broadcast.
The Impact
The new environment has fundamentally changed how NYSE produces and delivers content.
With three dedicated control rooms, production teams can now support multiple simultaneous events without overlap or compromise. Specialized roles allow staff to focus on their craft, audio, video, or graphics, reducing errors and improving overall quality.
The upgraded system also delivers:
- Higher-quality video and audio across all broadcasts
- Greater operational reliability and confidence
- Increased flexibility to support diverse event types across multiple floors
- Streamlined workflows that eliminate the need for constant multitasking
All of this supports NYSE’s ability to deliver more than 3,000 events annually, now with greater consistency, efficiency, and production value.
The Result
In just a matter of months, CTI and NYSE accomplished a full-scale broadcast transformation. Rebuilding control rooms, infrastructure, and workflows from the ground up.
And through it all, not a single show was missed.
Today, the New York Stock Exchange operates on a modern, scalable platform built for the future. Capable of supporting evolving technologies while maintaining the reliability required of a global financial institution.
“We’re an institution that has been around for 233 years. We have ridden every single wave of technology from the telegraph to AI. We are consistently building and innovating.” Joe Benarroch, Head of Content, Media Partnerships, and Distribution, NYSE
With CTI as a trusted partner, NYSE continues to innovate, delivering world-class media experiences every day, without interruption.
